The Medical and Surgical Skills Institute (MSSI) was established in 2005 by Johnson & Johnson in conjunction with the West African College of Surgeons and its medical allies.

Who We Are

The MSSI was developed as a surgical skills center to be the first training centre outside of the USA to conduct the advanced surgical course in Advanced Trauma Operative Management (ATOM). To date over 92,000 health professionals from varied backgrounds from 13 African Countries have received various lifesaving skills from the institute. This has led to the saving of lives of millions of persons all over.
Our core objective as an Institute is to enhance the skills and knowledge of healthcare professionals in the Sub-region through the provision of hands-on training by our highly professional course faculties.

Courses run by the institute are accredited by regulatory bodies such as the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Ghana, Medical and Dental Council of Ghana, Pharmacy Council, Allied Professional Health Council, West African College of Surgeons (WACS) and the Royal College of Surgeons etc.
